It's been nearly 6 months since I last posted and I regret to say that I haven't really done much in the way of model horses. As usual, I hope to fix that. This time, I plan to by not setting such lofty goals. I'm not going to plan on my customs being perfect, and I think by doing that, they will improve because I won't be expecting something I'm not able to do yet.
Now that my workbench is clean (a state that I almost forgot existed for it!) I plan to work more steadily on, well, anything horse related. Maybe I'll even figure out my airbrush.
On a completely unrelated subject, I suddenly have this odd desire to paint a purple horse. Odd.

CWP Custom: Just Finished this Evening
Thanks to a more relaxed schedule this semester, I have had more time to work on things other than school work. I've been training my dog, reading books, and practicing organ, but one of the best parts is, I get more time to spend working on my horses. The unfortunate Smarty Jones mentioned earlier is almost ready to paint (I think he'll be gray instead) and I have plans for a fantasy Lady Jewel (maybe a unicorn/pegasus?) But I haven't just been planning, I've also been finishing projects - Startling, really. This evening I decided I wouldn't stop working until the Cantering Welsh Pony I've been working on for about a year was finished. (My mom's order to clean my workbench may have been a factor in my determination). So here she is, my first traditional custom. 
Yes, she has her flaws, but mainly small prepping flaws. (I hope my prepping skills have improved!) I personally don't think this picture does her justice, but my photography skills leave much to be desired. I'm especially proud of her eyes. Multi-colored, with faint whites and a thick layer of gloss.
She is currently listed on MH$P. All her pictures are on my Picasa page.

I once made a decision to post more often on this blog. That was in July, and I haven't done anything about it. Part of the problem is school. There just isn't very much time to work on customs anymore. But I'm trying to manage anyway. . .
Recently, my beloved, mint condition, Smarty Jones model took a fall onto cement. After a brief mourning period, I decided he would look great in the dark bay I love to paint! I also recently got a Hartland Lady Jewel model and hope to repaint her. Maybe I'll do something besides bay for once.
So this time I won't only try to post more often, I'll try to have something to write about!

Breyerfest!!!
After three years of wishing and hoping, I'm finally in Kentucky! I can't believe that the opening ceremonies were just this morning - it's been a long, but awesome day! My favorite performers are by far the Cowgirl Chicks. I haven't seen Pecos performing yet.
How does this tie in with my normal blogging? At room sales I saw so many bodies I just wanted to hack apart. But alas, I have too many projects already. But I did add to my CL rearing stallion conga at the swap meet.
I've been told that I must get to my customizing, so expect more posts in the coming months!

The Trouble with Earth
My trouble with earth is not global warming, pollution, melting ice caps, or possible alien invasions. Rather, it's how to customize an Ethereal Earth body. 
He was one of my very first brand new traditional Breyers, and was also the horse with which I learned not to do a photoshoot on a windy day on rocks. (This picture was taken just moments before he became a body). I now have a new Earth, leaving this one available for cming. But what should I do with it? I don't want to do something too extreme - I was originally thinking of giving him a braided mane and tail until I saw the recent article in JAH that showed exactly that! I could straighten out his head, but that would include major neck work, which I'm not very skilled at yet. Currently I'm leaning towards a simple short mane with a short-ish tail. My last idea was to transform him into a doing a sliding stop. I'd just need to figure out if that would take major hip work - I don't want to ruin such a beautiful model!
